If she saw this Malayalam version of her song:
Just to refresh a memory, this is the original version

Homemade Mushroom Soup
Tired of canned/store bought varieties which contain more water/wash out milk than the real mushroom, I decided to make my own from scratch. Googled the reicpe and got a perfect one (in my opinion).
So here it i
s (served 6-8):
1 ounce dried mushrooms (porcini, morels, or shitakes)
1/2 cup olive oil
2 sprigs of rosemary
4 sprigs of sage
1 large yellow onion, peeled and thinly sliced
3 garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground white pepper
1 pound white button mushrooms, cleaned and thinly sliced
1 pound shitake mushrooms stemmed, cleaned and thinly sliced
6 cups chicken stock or water
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1. Soak the dry mushrooms in 1 cup of warm water for 20 to 30 minutes, until plump.
2. Strain the soaking liquid through a coffee filter to remove grit and reserve, along with the reconstituted mushrooms, until needed.
3. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over a medium flame. Bundle the rosemary and sage together and tie with kitchen twine. When the oil is hot, add the herb bundle and sizzle for a few minutes on both sides to infuse the oil.

4. Add the onion, garlic, salt and pepper and cook for 5 minutes, until the onion is soft and translucent but not brown.
5. Turn the flame to high and add the white mushrooms and shitakes.

6. Cook for 10 minutes, during which the mushrooms will give off their liquid (which should evaporate quickly due to the high heat) and deflate significantly. Stir occasionally.

7. Add the chicken stock and the dried mushrooms along with the soaking water.

8. Simmer for 30 minutes. Remove the herbs, then add the cream and butter. Working in batches, puree the soup in a blender until smooth. Return to the pot and keep at a very low simmer until ready to serve.

Lawsuit filed over iPhone 4 antenna
==================================
Source: news.cnet.com
Barely a week since the public got its hands on the iPhone 4, the first lawsuit over it has been filed.
Filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland on behalf of Kevin McCaffrey, Linda Wrinn, and others on Wednesday, the suit accuses Apple and AT&T of knowingly distributing a phone with a malfunctioning antenna. The plaintiffs are seeking class action status. The iPhone maker and its exclusive carrier partner in the U.S. are accused of a laundry list of infractions, including: general negligence, defect in design, manufacture, and assembly, breach of warranty, deceptive trade practices, intentional and negligent misrepresentation, and fraud by concealment.
The suit is latching on to the reported issue some customers are having with signal loss when the iPhone 4 is gripped in a certain way. It's been suggested the problem is tied to the iPhone 4's design, which incorporates the cellular radio into the metal band running on the outside of the phone, right where most people put their hands when holding the device. However, it's still not clear if a software update to the phone would help with the issue. Apple has maintained that it's a problem common to any phone when held in that manner and suggested that customers buy a rubber case as a solution.
The suit says: "Almost immediately after the purchase of their iPhone 4 devices, both McCaffrey and Wrinn began to experience significantly reduced reception and performance when handling the phones as demonstrated in Apple's advertisements or as a reasonable person would handle a mobile telephone while making phone calls, browsing the Internet, sending text messages, or utilizing other services provided by the iPhone 4."
As evidence of Apple's mishandling of the situation they cite the internal memo that was leaked to the Web in which AppleCare representatives were coached not to provide warranty service to customers experiencing this problem. The plaintiffs were also not cheered by the news that when a reader wrote to Steve Jobs complaining that if he held the phone in a certain way he lost the signal, Jobs responded, "Just don't hold it that way."
The suit is asking for monetary damages as compensation and that Apple and AT&T be prevented from selling similar iPhone 4's with defective antennas.
Apple on Monday said it has sold 1.7 million iPhone 4 units worldwide through the first three days of sales.

Risking another ban :p
Phew.... the racks finally came!

As usual lah kan, since im the only jantan around, tenaga ku dikerah! Lain kali kalau jangan join IT kalau tau ko tu pompuan.. Jadik jer mcm bijik2 kat bawah tu (prev entry).. Bimbo job kaedahnya!

Imagine I had to handle all these!!! Luckily got dell "engineers"** to assist.

When I reassembled a rack they were like "whoaaa, how do learn to do that?"

Like duh, it's not rocket science, plus i did this before, but on HP rack. :p
So yeah, after two weeks, the rack and laptops/desktops were assembled.

Hmmm.. not enough space to put a chair anymore!
But as usual, someone else got all the glory... when all she did was turned up at 8.30am and another at 6pm barking order and said this laptop should be like this and like that.. well, crazy*** is her surname anyway. what do you expect?
** they called themselves engineers, but their product knowledge and rough looks make me believe they're more coolie than engineers. As if im any better lah kan! :p

Seriously I dont see the point!
Busy busy busy bee.. As if base and non base works are not enough, now I got an instruction that we had to move cubicles (more like swapping). by Friday!!! *Arghhhhh*
Same floor, different direction. Reason being? so that the same dept could be "closer" together. Quatation mark because some would still be further apart.
Like seriously??? Wasted manhour for this futile movement. Newsflash, we change org every two years, and the two years line is approaching. What next? Move again?
This isn't 1990s where everyone should sit together. My manager is in Houston, supervisor is in Buenos Aires. I dont see the point for me to move around so that I could be closer to the local supervisor (which changes like every 6 months).
If i need to interact with others in this floor, there's always a phone, email and Instant Messages.
Unnecessary Stress!! FML!
Sigh, I'm longing pre BSC time...

Foreign species is being introduced
MOST people sigh in disappointment at the sight of worms in their durians but for the Choi family, these wriggly wonders have saved their orchard’s fruits.
While durian lovers shriek at the sight of worms that spoil the flesh of the fruit, Choi Yu Nen, 22, uses worms to improve his harvest and the taste of the fruits.

“Of course, the worms that destroy the fruit are different from the worms we use at the orchard.
“The flesh of our durians used to be quite hard and not very tasty.
“More than a year ago, I started using the African Night Crawler worms to make vermicompost for the orchard and the quality of fruits this season has improved significantly.
“I guess you could say that these worms saved our orchard,” he said when met at his family’s 0.6ha orchard in Teluk Kumbar, Penang, yesterday.
The 22-year-old biotechnology degree holder said he learnt about vermiculture when interning at the Penang Botanic Gardens before graduating.

I hope he knows what he's doing. For a biotech degree holder he should.. Maybe he already did extensive research and confirm that spicies are non-invasive..
What happened if it turned out like african bee? or amazonian catfish? ... Choii!!! (no pun intended)

I did NOT
A year plus have I left the group, assuming my R&R had been taken over. Of course la kan, with blue-eyed, high profile replacement, they should be..
And few weeks ago I received this embarassing email from our senior techinal writer commenting on the (internal) website that "I" developed.
=====================================
Also, the "Under Construction" page says "Stay tune..."
maybe add a "d" for the benefit of native English speakers...

OMFG!!! I was so pissed:
1) The new developer used my template AND DID NOT removed my name from it.
2) I would never submit sub standard work (well, blog is different matter) esp high profile project like department website.
Shoot an email to prev supervisor :
Could you please instruct the new site creator to update the Primary Site Contact and the Support Mailbox on the IRC.
And please ask her to go through the QC first before publishing.
=====================================
Could be a career suicide because that girl is next in line for management position. But heck I dont give a fly!
Of course that girl took it badly and was so defensive arguing that she did consult others before publish it. *dropping some names*
my response??
"Them? No wonder..."
*turned to my prev sup* "I rest my case.." and walked away!
PRICELESS

Almost six month hiatus
Well, I hope the drought wont recur.
Caught up with work for the couple of months previously. The replacement didnt really perform as expected. She tried, but she could only take the easy application. For application that needs scripting or custom action (majority of the app), she had to pass it to me.
Cant blame her much. This is seriously not an level entry job. You need to know at least how to tweak the windows registries (HKLM, HKCU, HKU), some knowledge in batch files programming and VBScript and a good imagination (you need to foresee this function would do what in an application). Granted we only repackage whatever vendor gave to us, but most of the times vendor app is not enough to make work in EM environment.
BTW, for those who had no idea what i wrote above my job simply: Got the app from vendor --> Repackage it to our standard --> Make available to users in add/remove program. Example, we got Adobe Photoshop from vendor, we re-engineer the app i.e remove whatever functions not needed, add our controls, etc and we give it to our users.
On top of that, there's this lab restacking activities. And because I was the only male around, automatically responsibility the fell on me. Pretty pissed, but no point of complaining. Just do it.. save the headache and heartache.
Before:
================
Instead of moving 4 pcs to the left, the bitch who did the planning wanted to move everything to the right. Tried to reason with her, but she's not having any of it.. citing about she's more experienced than I was and it was her project. She's aiming for supervisory position next year, and wont let lower ranked person like me to become a hindrance.

During:
================
So, i alone had to move more than 15 pcs to the right side, unwired and rewired. Reconfigured KVMs and Network (Cisco routers) and relabeling.

After:
================

Oh and its not done though... Next monday, 100 new desktops/laptops are coming with 6 additional racks. The idiot want to put the rack next to the wall, blocking the hot air from being ventilated. Moreover, the wall is from the cardboard. and the floor wasnt enforced as in the 7th floor server room. Dont know how it could hold 100 machines in 6 racks in such a small space!

Thats one of the reason I was away from blogging, although deep inside I was raging mad...
