Bday 2: DELIcious

Okay this time i wasnt the planner.. HUGE RELIEF.. just an attendee i.e. honorable VIPs.

The event was in Delicious Bangsar.

Bday gals and me.

Again the food was not that great, but the ambiance was..

It was raining cats and dogs that day and we were soaking wet.. Thus everyone had to loose their tops...

My dinner. Pan seared salmon.

There were Eileen, Pooi Ling, Aisah, Fara and myself. Errrr, yeah, I was the only guy who turned up.

The place was pack with people and it was Wednesday! Gosh!

Bday girl enjoying her dessert.

Entry malas... kikikiki

Bday 1: C-Club

Was asked to plan an event for my beloved friend, Che Yan. Arghhh stress.. believe me, I'm so bad at planning (not to mention king of procrastinate as well).

So after shortlisted possible venues, she choose 2 final candidates:
1) Red box
2) C Club

both at the Pavilion. Knowing how much I hate karaoke, I deliberately sabotage the idea of the red box (mampos kalau dia baca blog ni..kikiki), therefore off we went to C Club for planning, budgeting, food tasting, etc.

The food there was such a letdown, but Yan loved the place! Who am I to convince her otherwise, and going to red box is a big no-no. Reluctantly we agreed to have it here :p

Having it inside is not even an option, we had to tone down, so yeah, thats not gonna happen! Who ever heard about sombre birthday celebration!

So off we went, outside, open air.. the whole section all for ourself, plus free belly dancing performance next door.. And it was pretty cool(not hot and humid) that night.. perfect!

Last minute cake, the Club called and said they dont provide In house cake.. whatever that is...

After maghrib the guests started the come, and the feast began.

Minus Zee. Wished she was here though.. two hysterical ladies surely would brought the house down... literally!

Le menu for that night..

One busied cam-whoring, the other with Facebook! Grrrrrr....

The finger food, while waiting for the guests to arrive.

The soup. Shellfish bisque. If you asked me, it tasted like chicken feeds (dedak ayam).

Le beautiful crowd

My main course. Grilled sirloin steak with mashed potato, sautéed spinach and porcini glaze.

Errr.. that cake was meant to be shared!

Hear ye hear ye! Im 21 this year! Like yeah right :p

Free Stuff

Got these from the office. The Shuffle for the safety milestone, and the Touch for my 5th year anniv. Yee haaa...

The joy was short-lived though. I got to know my ranking... Sigh, two years in a row now... With the same old broken record "it's not you, its the system, try to be more visible next year. Everyone could give 110% for base work, we need something more.."

Was down for a couple of days, but now its not that bad anymore.. I could see some potentials process improvements which I could work on, thus making me more visible to the management.

But what I dotn really get thought was the increment that goes with that ranking. Supposedly, for my dismal performance, I was expected to receive less. Last eyar I got a promotion (?????) and this year the increment is good (the gross is, dont know why my tax increased by RM300 with the new salary).

Anyway, back to the free stuff topic.
Earlier this month, I saw the "Notis pemberitahuan Pos Daftar" on the grill of my apt.

Similar like this. I was like, okay, this is not funny. I hope no one sent a surprise parcel for me (for my birthday), because seriously, I dont have a car and I dont even know where the heck Sentul postoffice was.

If it's true, I am so gonna delete this person from my FB...menyusahkan hidup aku jer... kikikiki

I was also thinking this could be a lawyer letter or something for the unpaid loans or something. But then again I dont have any loan with any institutions. Sudah, mesti ada orang guna nama aku ni buat loan.. (Lost my IC a few years back)..

So yeah, one Saturday morning, luckily the post office opens on Saturday, I googled for the address. Phew, within walking distance from the LRT station. So off I went to the PO.

Got the parcel.. its from the P1 wimax. Eh, did I missed a payment for them to sent me the registered mail?

Tear it opened.. and voila, inside I saw this:

Pundek haram betul.... Menyusahkan aku sungguh!

It's for my birthday.. RM20 vouchers for the KFC and the Pizza hut.. So tak berbaloi the anxiety and the troubles I had to go through...

Oh well, better than Asstro though.. for 8 yrs being a good paymasters, I never received a single thank you note from them..

And the service? Dont get me started. Some of my channel was down because of incomplete downloading (happens twice a year at least because I turned off my unit when I go to work/sleep at night to save electricity :p), and everytime I got different answers from the operator. One even had a cheek to ask me to pay RM50 for the technician to come down to check my decoder.. Stupid or what? I said nevermind, let me wait for the next "update" when Astro will be pushing the whatyacallit to the decoder. I will leave my decoder on then for a week, true enough it worked. But now I had to pay the electricity for tis month... hehehehhe

Two days too early, But Im not complaining

"Famil, there's a package for you downstairs" the receptionist was informing me over the phone at 4pm.

I was expecting a software package or something, so when I got there at the lobby, I was pleasantly surprised to see this..

Right there and then I knew who sent it. It's from Caieja. The readers I never met. Heh heh.

Thanks for the lovely cakes.

Of course, I shared them with friends and colleagues.

And everybody said they were delicious. Of course I wouldn't know then. I was fasting :p

And right after the iftar I tasted some. I had to agree with everybody.

And ohh. just to spite Lynn.. I had the dinner at Tony Roma's again.

And gain, I forgot to order the onion blossom thingy. Nevermind, next time.

Weekend Random [Week 39]

The week was insanely a busy one. I had several projects due by end of month. Therefore, there's a lack of update.

Had dinner with yaya, shahrul, ezami and jabba on my bday. The plan was to had dinner at Chilis', but there's a lot of people there. Plus, I had to leave early to fetch my friend coming from the Singapore.

So, we went to the rest with the least diners around.

Bday uncle, looking lethargic.

A slice of cake, a candle and a wish.

Jabba n ezami. Frustrated, because there's no chick joining in this year as opposed to last year.

Poor birdie, they were abandoned by their parents.

Has any of you guys received these already?

Crazy Saturday
==========================

Sue was having a pot luck at her place last Saturday. Even though I just had buttered prawn a week before, the committee insisted me to cook the same thing again.

This time I had an indo maid.. so the cutting and slicing parts were outsourced to her. hi hi.

The day was hectic. We had to scout into 3 supermarkets looking for the freakin prawns. Plus, since this is her first time here, we had to go for the sight-seing while looking for the ingridients. Casting two stones at once.

First we went to Sogo, jalan TAR. Nada prawn.. So we went to kamdar . Actually we walked passed kamdar and she saw this baju kurung and she fell in love with it. But she didnt bought it though. I told her to think about it first. Yeah, like when r u going to wear it in singapore.

So, off I went to The Mall while she had her lunch. Also futile.

Then we went to Jusco... Maluri! Like so far away right. and neither of us had our shower yet. great!

Finally found it...

Came back at 1 pm. Cut and cleaned those prawns. Marinated it and left it on the fridge. We went to Bukit Bintang, Starhill, Pavillion and Times Square. I deliberately skipped Sungai Wang because I know one day wont be enough for her there.

On the way back, she said she wanted that baju kurung. So, knowing resisting is futile, I submitted.

By 6, we made a move to Bukit Jelutong.

Reached there, stuffed ourselved, ogled at her place, got a lecture for wearing knee lenght short, and exchange presents with Sue (thanks a LOT! I love the t-shirt). We made our move back.

The night is not done yet. She promised to meet somebody else. So, Faiz dropped us at the Carrefour Subang Jaya around 9.45p.m

By 10, Han showed up... and we went for satay kajang. On the way, he suggested bringing us to Putrajaya for sightseeing. I felt like throwing myself on the road. Luckily, Lusi said she's tired :p

So, we went for satay samuri. and by midnight we reached home.

And on Sunday, around 8 in the morning I left for bangsar to send her off. She'll be back in November for Moezni's reception.

Sunday's Recipe
==========================

I cooked sweet n sour fish for iftar.

Sorry no recipe nor a complete picture. After 2 pic, I just forgot. Hi hi.

5676 Alor Setar

She was born on that day. Los Banos, Los Alamitos or was it at the Los Angeles? No, it was Los Staq instead...

18 years passed by and the journey had shaped her into what I would know about her back then.

6694. Another major event were about to unfold. Two world's greatest buddy would meet and the friendship would flourished and would tested over times.

PPP-ITM. After the placement test, MSR and initial confusion, we were given freedom. So most of us headed for the Subang Parade.

On that bus stop did I saw a 'kerek' (vain) couple. Ignored them. But when we realised we had to fight over a seat, it was that moment that determined, I was so going to hate her forever.

Who had thought 2 semesters later, we would be classmates. Noraini Azmi aka Not, introduced us. Amid the formal handshake, the hostility remained.

What happened next was history (or the truth; I have forgotten what had happened actually :p ).

I spend a week at her place over the sem break, she tought me how to drive... next to a bendang (muddy paddy field)... in her mum's brand new wira (what were we thinking :p)

We did that stupid fortune telling on how many offspring we would get. 10 years down the line, she's on the right track achieving that numero 5. Last I heard, Not had achieve her target too. And me? Well, the fortune told that I would have none.... so yeah, I was the first to achieve that target.

We flew together to Lax. The picture above was taken at Taipei, during the 8 hr delayed over the typhoon.

We said Sayonara at O'hare. Left the friendship to fate and hoped for the best. She flew Southwest to Kansas City, MO and I flew Southeast to Bloomington, IN. Well, actually i was stranded at Terre Haute because of the blizzard (Great, typhoon and blizzard, what next?).

This friendship was meant to be.

After years not seing each other, we're actually getting closer. I owed her my life during my turbulance year there.

There, she met her soulmate, and I was happy for her :)

She had Yasmin, a beautiful house, a fullfilling career, and a lovely husband. I thought we would never see each other again.

We were separated again in 1999. She stayed and I had to go.

But somehow, her heart is still with Malaysia. So, in a haste, she packed her belongings and back. (Lucikly she remembered to pack her hubby too).

*Sheshhh, now I dont have a reason to go to the US anymore ;p *

Anyway, I was more than happy to have her here. With three additional family members, and oh-i-lost-count-how-many-bibik-she-fired, the friendship grows.

She was my everything, sister, confidant, friend, mother, financial dis-controller, retail therapist, fashion advisor (NOT! I stopped wearing clothes she 'advise' me to buy after 2-3 wears :p)

For thank, I thank her. Im glad I took this journey with you.

-HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS-

p/s: Faiz, dont hate me because im so creative. Go get your wife a diamond or something :p
