Kudu Is Overrated

Been hearing this amazing review on Kudu. They said its the best Penang food in town par none! Even better than the Penang nasi kandar! Even P Rample patronised this outlet daily.

Audacious claim.

So, one fine day I decided to give it a try. Rice, chicken, salted egg, veggie + mixed gravies (kuah campor banjirrrr). Thats the template meal if you need to make a comparison.

My verdict? If youre malay you'll like it. Pure mamak wont like it. As for me, it's passable. The gravies had correct viscosities. But the umph factor was missing.

I prefers Nasi Kandar Ampang at Wisma Central.

Filler Activities: Food and More Foods

This is the compilations of the food socialising at my place. The first gathering was for double celebrations - M4e/4sun first born + Ni$$a farewell.

My pathetic attempt to make black pepper sauce.

Hors d'œuvre- calmar et champignon frits in tartare sauce

Soup of the day - cream of mushroom.

Main course - beef bacon, grilled lamb & sunny side up egg in pain de campagne

Dessert - tarte de fraise and honey glazed peaches

Much assemblies required.

Nom nom nom

Hubby n wife

Not hubby n wife.

Leftover meat for lunch was salad for dinner. hihihihi

==========================================

And this was for the new year's feast. Cath, Elin, Marul, Hail, Dims, Hasne, Elina + son, and I.. hmm I thought there were 10 people that day.. must be satan...

One whole grilled turkey, vegiies, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding

Just main course. No entree, no soup.

Desserts. Cuppies and cherry tarts.

Of course we couldnt finished them all. I gave almost all the leftovers for Marul and only keep some for the sandwich tomorrow.

Pre new year sandwich, before I catch the flight to Saigon (and had lunch on the plane, and another lunch and dinner at zee's) *barf*

The Restaurant only for the Ang Moh

Planned a dinner at The Tamarind Spring Restaurant in Ampang to celebrate Mek's new job.

So by 6.45 we're at Yaya's house already.

While waiting for Yaya to get off the internet, take a shower, choose a dress, iron the dress, apply a makeup, reapply a makeup, looking ofr the killer heels, sip a water then realised its a wrong shade of lipstick, scurry back upstair to apply another lipstick, lock all the door, have a chat with her mum, feed the cat...phew.. to get dressed, we played the cam whoring game

and the winner is... oh well, its my camera.. so naturally im the de facto winner :p

Then off we went to the unfamiliar places.. further up from the golf club (KDE) and into the housing areas. Scary at night! Very very very posh settings. Kinda over the top, even for my standard :p

The food? Oh my gawd.. Sucks big time. Maybe its not designed for asian paletes.. Good enough for caucasians I guess, reading from the review.

The "on the house" chef special. Tasted like the salad being celur (toss) inside air longkang (drain water)

The appetisers. Too much salt, too little salt, too much cinnamon, too putrid. And the souces to go with it? Even the generic, store bought in a bottle taste much better.

Sorry Eileen, not that we dont appreciate that youre paying and all that, but with that outrageous price you're paying, Naili's in sentul fared better!

The 100 dollar fish with the special sauce. Special indeed, I guessed they just grab the fish from the neighborhood's trash can, with trash lendir and all that!
The duck? Its so tough, you think its rubber! And tasted spoilt!

Another tasteless prawn thingy. Tomato ketchup with water and tonne of salt.

It goes on and on, every dish was so devoid of flavour and character we may as well have been eating sawmill. The only dish that have decent taste was the rice!

It claimed to have served the best dishes from Cambodia, Laos and the Northern Thailand. Complete farce! Imitation one at best.. bad imitiation!

If any of you (readers) find it otherwise, you better change profession and become one of the food tasters/tender committee for Suria (KLCC) group. The same group who claims Signature and Rasa's dishes are the best in the world!

Niue Jaar

3Fs - Fitri, Fauzan, Famil waiting for the main course. I didnt cook that night because of the disaster with the pipe :p

The only time that I would watch channel 104 (the Malay channel, is it Ria?), because of Shidi... Arimi as usual couldnt part with his FB. kikikikiki

I made this starter though. Very last minute. Couldnt find the bread at first, there's there's no basel and tomatoes (salsa bruschetta), then there's no more time to cook (mushroom bruschetta)... luckily there's sardine :p

Alternatively, the starter for those westernised tongues (mengaku western, tapi kalau tak tengok semangkuk sambal belacan boleh habis) was celery with blue cheese, walnut and olive thingy!

Main course finally arrived! Roasted Chicken in orange glaze with buttered sprouts.

Baked sweet potatoes & carrots, yorkshire puddings (i always though pudding was wobbly, not fritters like), chicken, mashed potatoes with sage, tangan budak darjah 5, and starter(celery).

Enjoying the food

Ha ngko, hangus!

Marul was updating his FB status!

After dinner, ther's movie.. and then at 12.. Fireworks!

The ikea/mont kiara side went first.

Then KLCC

Then bukit bintang, dataran and bangsar!

Happy New Year... they all left around 1am, lucily they did the dish.. had 2 hr nap, then hurriedly leave the house to catch the flight.

Ibu Segala Masakan Asean Kaedahnya

Was killing my time at Lot 10 on fine weekend. Walking around the exhibition space, not paying any attention. Suddenly, got these two over enthusiast students (found out later that they were hospitality students - no wonder) ushered me "inside". Ok lah lets see what's up..

Turned to my left.. EH! [Sila abaikan bibik kat sebelah tu dengan muka terliur. she's there solely for the food. Bibik ngga bisa omong inggris pak, kaga ngerti basa basi!]

On the stage got this Siamese chef demonstrated thai's cooking.

Not to be outdone, chef kita ini juga sudah naik pentas... Battle of the divaschefs began. Nasib baik kak Nita tak ada!

There were also a showcase for foods all over the regions. Singapore got murtabak and spagetti (?)

Whereas they served strag dogs at the Vietnamese booth... kidding! There were rice roll (popiah vietnam)

Hazeline Snow Pot Luck

The potluck was supposed to be for the Block 5 roommates. Faie and Gina could make it, as for me? Well, It was also a mystery why I was there... memeriahkan majlis kot... hi hi hi

As usual, the hardest part of the planing was to get the agreeable time. Thus, the only time suitable for the majority was on Saturday morning at 10am!

When Hazel told me that she lives in Putra Height, arrogantly I told her that I dont need the map. I knew that place by heart...

Therefore I was a little bit perplexed when Sue said to meet her at Batu 3. Turned up that her Putra was somewhere in USJ / Sri Petaling.. And the Putra in my mind was Desa Putra in Wangsa Maju! Silly me!

The theme was green. By 10.30am there were only the host's family, sue's, ain's and myself.

FIne lah! Because everybody else were starving, we decided enough is enough.. and started the feast.

While the kids were busy playing...

The adults busy mencekik (gobbling)....

Pose tetap pose... No matter even the kid were crying in hunger!

Preparing for the group photo...

.. and I almost crushed that bony little girl behind me!

On the way back, i realised that there's a little herb garden in front of the house. Impressive!!! She had a green thumb after all.... That was before I realized I was admiring the neighbor's garden.. So, I turned to her patch....

only to be greeted by this!
Ahhhhhh..... It's Hazel alright! hi hihi..
