A letter of appeal to Malaysians Politicians by Anas Zubedy

Not hoping for a miracle here, but hopefully somehow this message will get through those thick politicians skulls and will actually trigger some good brain part to actually works!

Dear Malaysian Politicians,
Please stop the power chase, call for a truce and focus on the economy.
I do not claim to speak on behalf of all Malaysians, but I have strong convictions that many share my sentiments.
Our concern today is not who rules the country or heads the state governments but the looming bad economy.
Whether Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Rakyat leads, it is meaningless if Malaysians have no job to go to, no money to pay rent and no means to put food on the table.
I am a business owner, like other business owners and managers of corporations I have a responsibility to ensure people under my care and payroll continue to have jobs and a decent income to take home. We work hard and willing to go the extra mile to make sure our nation not only survive this crisis but come out stronger and wiser. We need your help.
Let me explain. I am in the business of Training, Development and Consultancy and have 20 people in my team.
Saedah is 42. She keeps the office clean and helps organise the training rooms. She has four children and her husband is unemployed. She was first hired on a part time basis, because she is very hard working and has a great attitude, we offered her a full time job to help provide a stable income for her family. Even then, when her third child started school this year, it was a struggle for her to buy new school uniforms and other necessities. Saedah lives on a ‘kais bulan, makan bulan’ basis, so, if she is jobless, her tap runs dry.
Samsuri is 27 years old. He lives with his sister and her family in a low cost government flat in Sunway. He does our despatch, helps with various clerical works and occasionally acts as a driver. During the first week at zubedy, we learned that he not only did not have money to buy new clothes and shoes for work, he had no money for lunch. Like Saedah, if he has no job, his tap runs dry too.
Alicia in Client Servicing turns 26 this year. She lives with her dad who is 71 years old and retired. Her mom passed away when she was little. Alicia is a hard-working team member, has a gentle caring outlook and fun to be with. (We like to poke fun at her as she blushes easily). Last May her dad went through a major operation, thank God he has recovered well. Alicia needs a job, both for herself and her dad.
Sudesh, 38, is one of our facilitators. When his father passed away last year, he moved back and lives with his mother in Seremban. He shuttles between Kuala Lumpur and Seremban daily, leaving home sometimes as early as 4 in the morning and returning late at night. He is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice, he knows what he needs to do to survive and to care for his mother, but he too needs a job.
Like fellow Malaysians, every one of us in zubedy needs employment, those that live from hand to mouth like Saedah and Samsuri and others like Alicia and Sudesh with family to care for. We Malaysians need the Malaysian economy to be strong. We need you, our leaders, to work hard and to work together to make our economy viable.
So this is my plea.
Pakatan Rakyat, please stop your attempts to take over the federal government and persuade BN’s lawmakers to join you. Stop all legal proceedings, no more 916 and let go, just let go. The nation can wait till the next general elections if they want change. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and gracious and give you their support in the next elections.
Barisan Nasional, please stop any attempts to take over PR states and win over PR’s lawmakers. You have proven your point with Perak. The nation can wait for the next general elections if they want your party. Focus all your talent, energy and hard work in steering the country out of an economic downturn. By doing so, Malaysians will see your party as caring, unselfish and smart and give you their support in the next elections.
BN and PR! Call for a truce. Get together and compromise. Someone has to give in. Or has hate consumed your heart till it blinds you? You can do it. You have enough intelligent people between you. I am sure you can find solutions. Take the nation to heart. That is why you are in politics in the first place.
Focus on the people.
Focus on the economy.

The Act of Sabotage? You tell Me
Najib: Change or die
His speech at the launch of a book entitled "Politik Baru" (New Politics) written by Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah comes just three days after the BN lost the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election to PAS by a convincing margin.
"We are aware that in a democratic system, the people are the ultimate determiner of which party should form the government," he said.
"In implementing all the required changes, the BN, whether it liked it or not, needed able leaders who are knowledgeable in the fields entrusted to them. Leaders, should be 'glocal' in their ways of thinking, with ideas transcending national boundaries, but with soul firmly rooted in their homeland.
"Malaysians are mature enough to gauge their leaders. They are no longer impressed with the rhetoric of changes which are nothing but plain rhetorics. They want results. They want to see actual changes taking place," he said.
Najib said the wave of change sweeping around the world today required the country not only to have leaders with sweet smiles and pleasant personalities but also those with wisdoms and ideas.
He said there should never be a disconnect between the people's aspiration and the government's goal. adding that the BN government was always responsive to changes and new ways of doing things.
Changes had now become a dominant theme in global politics, Najib said.
United States president-elect Barack Obama, during his campaign trail for instance, had been appealing to the American people's sense of hope and idealism and not their fear and hatred, said Najib.
"This has triggered a wave of change in the history of American politics," he said.
Najib also said access to information superhighway and pay-per-view satellite television had exposed the Malaysian public to the explosion of information and this had brought about new dimensions in the empowerment of Malaysians as voters.
Najib congratulated Saifuddin for finding time to write the book despite his busy schedule as a member of the administration.
The 178-page book in Malay and English discusses politics in the context of governance and the lesson that can be learned from the 12th general election.
Saifuddin said the idea for book came from his desire to contribute towards the flourishment of knowledge and to help enrich the political discourse in the country. - Bernama

Perhaps a victory
Call me pessimist, but I wouldn't call P36 by-election a clear Victory and making BN irrelevant.
PAS - 32,883
BN - 30,252
Bebas - 193
Majority - 2,636
Spoilt - 665
Turnout - 63,993
With only 2000 strong majority, it's more like a voting anomaly rather than 'referendum rakyat menolak permerintahan BN' (people's voice - says no to current leadership).
Compare to the March 2008 results:
PAS - 31,934
BN - 32,562
Bebas - 685
Majority - 628
Spoilt - 931
Turnout - 66,112
Bigger turnout this time. Plus minus the spoils and independence votes, the majority is not that significant.
But the most important factor would be the UMNO factor. As usual, whenever their personal favorite candidate is not contested, they will sabotage the election by voting the opposition, call it stupid, but it's the UMNO way.
As much as I dislike current moronic leaderships, I wouldnt go overboard either by saying that this is the SIGN.
So, hold your breathe people, the ride is getting scarier. Terminal Rakyat (New Labu International Airport) for example.
Now you know why It it against my principle to take Air Asia. What AA wants, AA gets. Ipoh airport, Batu Berendam (Malacca) airport, Sarawak's domestic route. In the end what happened? MAS has to pick up AA's shit.
It's unfair to pass judgment without going through the 'Now everyone could fly' experience. So I did try it once, but that was it! An experience I wouldnt want to forget nor want to relive again.
KLIA-Jakarta. Somewhere in 2002.
Boarding the plane via the tarmac (no bridge, just like Los Staq airport) was fine with me. But something was seriously fucked up when at the tarmac, you could see and old Chinese auntie with huge 'hand' luggage cutting you from behind and hurriedly strutted onto the plane.
It's like a movie being played in slow motion; maknya tua, with all jerih payah mengejar pelangi. Horror!!!!
Shocked no2 I had was when I was aboard. The scene was so chaotic. People fighting over seats, luggages were not stowed on the overhead compartment (with some put the bags on their laps). Luckily livestock is prohibited at KLIA (maybe they will allow it in Labu).
I was seated in the middle of these Indonesian groups which made a big embarrassing scene because they thought those drinks and maggie mee were free.
Nothing pale to comparison with the shock no 3 though. Their stewardesses!!! And no, its not about their faces. They're quite pretty indeed (pretty ugly -- kidding). Nor was it that shocking red uniforms they donned. It's their pantyhose!!!! *psycho screeching background music*
It's not uniform! Some, wear it, some dont. Some wear the black, some brown and one have a runny pantyhose! That was the last straw man!
Eh termenyimpang jauh pulak. Kesimpulannya, unless its 10,000 or more majority, then only we could call it an ultimate victory. Until then, majulah sukan untuk negara!

Hindu Rights Action Force chairperson P Waythmoorthy today accused the Malaysian government of lying over the status of his passport.

He said that it was "absolutely ridiculous and a blatant lie" for the Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar to claim that his passport was not revoked.

Syed Hamid had earlier said that "probably because the passport had expired".
"How can he lie like this? Aren't his officers briefing him on what's happening to Malaysians abroad?" asked Waythamoorthy.
He said that his passport was to expire in 2010 and that he, of all persons, would know the validity of his travel document.
"The problem started when I returned to London from Zurich on April 21 and was informed by the UK immigration officer at Gatwick Airport that the Malaysian government had revoked my passport," he told Malaysiakini.
"Is Syed Hamid saying that the British immigration authorities are lying?" he asked when contacted by telephone today.
Waythamoorthy had revealed the cancellation of his travel document in a press statement on Friday.
On the same day, Syed Hamid, when asked to comment on the issue, rejected the claims, stating that Waythamoorthy's passport had not been revoked.
Syed Hamid added that the "misunderstanding" was probably because Waythamoorthy's passport had expired and he could have his passport renewed at the Malaysian High Commission in London.
Forcing his return
Responding to the minister's remarks today, Waythamoorthy said Syed Hamid was trying to mislead the public on the matter.
"I'm indeed surprised that the senior cabinet minister would issue a statement based on probabilities without verifying the facts..."
Waythamoorty said he was given a "fresh leave to enter and remain in the United Kingdom for six months" upon his return from India on April 2.
"It is a known fact that no country would admit a person into its territory without a six months' validity period on the passport.
"For that matter, Switzerland wouldn't have admitted me into its country on the April 17, nor would any airline allow me to board the flight, without a six months' validity," he said.
Waythamoorthy, who is in self-imposed exile in United Kingdom since the government's crackdown on Hindraf last November, said the government was seeking to lure him back to this country to detain him under the Internal Security Act.
Five other Hindraf leaders, including the movement's most popular face and Waythamoorthy's brother Uthayakumar, are presently being held without trial since Dec 13.
"It is obvious my traveling to lobby for Hindraf and the ethnic minority Indian community had caused the Malaysian government to revoke my passport to curtail my movement," he said.

Perak MB's swearing-in put off

breaking news In yet another dramatic twist to the formation new state government in Perak, the swearing-in ceremony of Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as mentri besar today has been cancelled.
Mohammad Nizar, a PAS assemblyman, was to be sworn in at the Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar at 4pm today.
However, palace officials made an announcement at 4.20pm that the ceremony had been put off. No reason was given.
It is learnt that the three candidates for the menteri besar post were involved in a prolonged meeting with the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah at the Kinta Palace in Ipoh just prior to the swearing-in ceremony.
The meeting lasted from 2.30pm to 4.05pm, hardly leaving any time for them to be at the 4pm swearing-in ceremony at the Kuala Kangsar palace, which is about one hour from Ipoh.
It is not clear what had transpired at the close-door meeting.
Yesterday the DAP-PKR-PAS coalition in Perak agreed to appoint Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Nizar as the new menteri besar.
State DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham and an Indian state representative were to be the deputy menteri besar (1) and (2) respectively.
Along with Nizar and Ngeh, PKR’s Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi's name was also submitted to the regent by the DAP-PKR-PAS coalition.
More stumbling blocks
However the appointment of Nizar was objected by the DAP leadership with party stalwart Lim Kit Siang saying that the party had only agreed for a DAP or a PKR menteri besar.
This morning the problem seemed to have been solved with Lim apologising over his objections and Ngeh stating that all misunderstanding have been clarified.

Perak MB's swearing-in put off

breaking news In yet another dramatic twist to the formation new state government in Perak, the swearing-in ceremony of Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as mentri besar today has been cancelled.
Mohammad Nizar, a PAS assemblyman, was to be sworn in at the Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar at 4pm today.
However, palace officials made an announcement at 4.20pm that the ceremony had been put off. No reason was given.
It is learnt that the three candidates for the menteri besar post were involved in a prolonged meeting with the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah at the Kinta Palace in Ipoh just prior to the swearing-in ceremony.
The meeting lasted from 2.30pm to 4.05pm, hardly leaving any time for them to be at the 4pm swearing-in ceremony at the Kuala Kangsar palace, which is about one hour from Ipoh.
It is not clear what had transpired at the close-door meeting.
Yesterday the DAP-PKR-PAS coalition in Perak agreed to appoint Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Nizar as the new menteri besar.
State DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham and an Indian state representative were to be the deputy menteri besar (1) and (2) respectively.
Along with Nizar and Ngeh, PKR’s Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi's name was also submitted to the regent by the DAP-PKR-PAS coalition.
More stumbling blocks
However the appointment of Nizar was objected by the DAP leadership with party stalwart Lim Kit Siang saying that the party had only agreed for a DAP or a PKR menteri besar.
This morning the problem seemed to have been solved with Lim apologising over his objections and Ngeh stating that all misunderstanding have been clarified.

The Racist Pig Has Emerged, again
Surprise surprise.
After the kajillion times he reiterated that this wont be a PAS state, those pigs still scream inequality.
Couldn't you think that how difficult was it for the HRH to make that decision?
Give it time damit, changes couldnt be implemented overnight. It's to shocking for the system. The HRH has done a good job for transition by giving the Deputy CM post to others, in hope that rakyat would accept it and in the next GE, shall the DAP won again, they would be eventually be given the chance to be the MB.
Plus, talk about meritocracy. The HRH did just that. He choose the best qualified men on paper because on portfolio both PKR and PAS candidates are equal.
What crap! Before this, all agreed form coalition, to submit names to the HRH and accept whoever being chosen by him. Perak is not owned by DAP or PKR or PAS or BN. They are only elected leaders on behalf of the people. The state is owned by Perak’s people.
Hello, Majority, you only have 18 seats, BN still has 28. If I were the King, I will stripped them from the winning and give back the MB position to BN/UMNO.

Controversial politician Zakaria Deros dies

Former Port Klang assemblyperson Zakaria Md Deros died early today after suffering a heart attack.
He was pronounced dead by a doctor at 2.30am. He was 62.
Zakaria gained infamy in 2006 when he had a run-in with the law for not submitting building plans for his mansion, dubbed as a istana (palace) by his detractors.
A former Klang municipal councillor, Zakaria was found not to have paid the assessment for another property for 12 years, while his family was caught operating an illegal satay restaurant on government reserve land.
He was dropped from the BN line-up for the just-ended general election, replaced by his daughter-in-law Roselinda Abdul Jamil. She however failed to retain the seat.
His mansion has 21 bathrooms and 16 bedrooms, including 11 that occupied by each of his children, as well as a VIP room, three living rooms, a dining hall and a prayer room.
The house also has a swimming pool, several gazebos, an orchard, a two-hole golf lawn, an office, a storeroom, two rooms for maids as well as a wet kitchen and a dry kitchen.

Bagi seorang insan yang sudah mencecah usia 89 tahun, tiada apa lagi yang perlu dikejarkan.

"Dah tua tua ni buat amal saja lah"
"Kerajaan dah bagi segalanya, kenapa masih nak melawan?"
"Nek maimum pengkhianat, tak ubah seperti melepaskan anjing tersepit, ambil duit jabatan kebajikan, tetapi digunakan untuk bertanding!"
Antara cemuhan yang dilemparkan kepada wanita ini.
Bukan kemewahan yang dicari. Bukan jua kemegahan yg diidam.
Jadi untuk apa?
Anjakan paradigma! Selama 50 tahun pemikiran kita dijajah dek politikus yang rakus. Maruah dilanyak, negara dijaja, agama dipersenda. Anda mungkin masih mampu melihat segala tanpa sekelumit sesal dihati.
Tidak bagi Maimum Yusof. Cukup baginya melihat sang barua menjarah hasil bumi tanpa sisa. Cukup di sini, sekarang!
dan kenapa tidak? Jika ditakdirkan Maimun kalah, beliau boleh berbangga atas usaha sendiri. Setidak tidak nya beliau telab mencuba membuat perubahan. Yang pastinya perubahan kendiri akan lebih manis, sesuatu yang tak bisa digambarkan kenikmatannya.
Anda bagaimana? Masih berpuas hati dengan kereta viva dan gaji bulanan yang setaraf sepasang sepatu menteri?
Mampukah dia?
Setiap insan akan gerun kepada perubahan. Itu sesuatu yang alami. Tetapi ingatlah, Manusia punya asa, Tuhan punya kuasa. Selagi hayat masih tersisa, segala kemungkinan bisa berlaku. Kepakaran mengemudi ekonomi mungkin tiada, tetapi jika ikhlas, bantuan pasti kan tiba.
Hentikan pekikan bingit mendambakan keadilan. Kunci itu telah berada di tangan anda. Bebaskan minda yang telah lama terkunci.

BESUT: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has given party candidates the green light to engage in character assassination of their opponents during their ceramah.
Quoting versus from the Quran, Hadi said that it was all right for the candidates to reveal the wrongdoings of their opponents in Barisan Nasional so that righteousness could prevail.
“Islam allows such an action as long as we don’t fabricate stories; the people (voters) have the right to elect a leader of high esteem and virtue, ” he said during a ceramah in Kuala Besut on Tuesday night.
“Character assassination is acceptable in Islam, especially when electing a leader, because people should make a wise decision when choosing their leaders,” he said.

Spoilt By Choices
My constituency will be represented by either one of the following candidates:
P50 - Jelutong
1 -- Ooi Chuan Aun (DAP). wah lau weh, Jeff Ooi is contesting here lah :p
2 -- Badrul Zaman Md Zakariah (IND)*
3 -- Thor Teong Gee (Gerakan)
--- 61,181 voters (19.6%M, 67.9%C, 12%I)
As for the state assemblies, the candidates are:
N30 - Sg Pinang
1 -- Koid Teng Guan (DAP). What kind of surname is Koid?
2 -- Badrul Zaman Md Zakariah (IND)*
3 -- Looi Swee Cheang (Gerakan)
--- 19,368 voters (26.2%M, 58.7%C, 6.7%I)
*Wah, that independent fellow contested for both Parliament and State.
Next time I would be voting in KL already. Suck lah, KL have only House of Representative (Dewan Rakyat), got one vote only.

KUALA TERENGGANU: Calon Bebas yang bersaing merebut kerusi Parlimen Kuala Terengganu, Maimun Yusuf, 89, kini mula berkempen dengan berbasikal dari rumah ke rumah sambil menjual kain.
Warga emas dari Kampung Atas Tol itu, berkata menjual kain pekerjaan tetapnya sejak 15 tahun lalu sekali gus memudahkan tugasnya berkempen untuk ‘Parti Tanah Melayu Bersama Dalam Islam’ menggunakan lambang kunci.
Menurutnya, anara persediaan yang sudah dilakukannya termasuk menempah 1,000 keping poster untuk ditampal di sekitar kawasan kampung dan bandar ini serta membeli telefon bimbit membabitkan kos kira-kira RM3,000.
“Sudah menjadi kebiasaan tok akan keluar menjual kaind ari jam 8 pagi hingga tengah hari dan sambil menjual kain, tok boleh berkempen untuk parti kunci.
“Tok memang mengharapkan kemenangan kerana banyak faedah rakyat akan dapat termasuk buat rumah, sekolah dan pejabat mengikut rekaan terkini kerana sekolah yang ada sekarang fesyen lama dan warnanya tidak cantik,” katanya ketika ditemui berkempen di sekitar rumahnya di Kampung Gong Gemia, di sini, semalam.
Walaupun sudah lanjut usia, wanita itu masih mampu mengayuh basikal bagi memastikan dia memenangi pilihan raya kali ini.
Bagi kerusi Parlimen berkenaan, Barisan Nasional (BN) diwakili penyandangnya, Datuk Razali Ismail berdepan calon ‘bidan terjun’, Mohamad Sabu yang juga Naib Presiden Pas.
“Tok tak percaya kepada mana-mana parti sebab itu masuk bertanding. Walaupun tak pandai membaca dan menulis, tok akan menggunakan khidmat kerani membantu kerja menguruskan dokumen jika menang,” katanya.
Menurutnya, kelmarin, dia mengupah anak rakannya, RM20 bagi mengisi borang penamaan calon kerana dia sendiri tidak tahu menulis dan membaca.
Katanya, dia mengumpul RM10,000 itu hasil jualan kain dan menerima bantuan Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM) RM200 sebulan dan menolak dakwaan konon wang pertaruhan itu hasil jualan tanah pusaka.
Sementara itu, jirannya, Jusoh Mohd, 56, berkata wanita itu gemar menonton Buletin Utama dan Berita Dunia dan ketika siaran kedua-dua slot itu, beliau akan menguatkan pembesar suara televisyen menyebabkan jiran tetangga tidak perlu memasang televisyen di rumah masing-masing.
